Tovah Gidseg

We are foster parents to a sweet and beautiful young man who we adore. Children in foster care are among society's most vulnerable and underserved members. The stipend given to foster parents covers only the basics, especially in areas where the cost of living is high. There are many dedicated foster parents out there who can't afford to give their foster children the "extras" that other kids get, such as sports or dance lessons or a new bike... and FAFS steps in to help with things like that. Even more importantly, they provide college scholarships to teenagers aging out of foster care (a high percentage of these kids have no family or support network to turn to once they turn 18, and many end up homeless, pregnant and/or addicted to substances). They provide a backpack program to help children entering foster care have some things of their own that can stay with them even if they return home, providing a sense of security. FAFS also provides tremendous support to foster parents.
