Camp Scholarships
The Camp Scholarship Program is an initiative to provide children in foster care with the chance to attend a week of overnight camp at Camp Johnsonburg in Johnsonburg, NJ. Camp Johnsonburg provides a non-competitive environment where children can flourish and build self-confidence, while having fun. This is important for children whose life-experiences have been full of uncertainty and pain.
Providing children with the opportunity to attend Camp Johnsonburg also serves another important purpose for many children. Weeklong camp sessions offer siblings who have been separated since entering foster care with the opportunity to reunite for a few fun-filled days.
As an extracurricular activity, attendance at summer camp does not fall within the realm of basic care for children in foster care. While public funds are sometimes available for camp, they are very limited and offered on a first come, first serve basis. This program exists to allow greater numbers of children the chance to experience summer camp.
Camp Johnsonburg provides FAFS with significant discounts to help send children in foster care to camp, but FAFS must seek private funding to make this experience a reality for them. It is through donations, such as yours, that we are able to provide children in foster care with this wonderful experience. Please donate to this important program.
The Foster and Adoptive Family Services Foundation is a 501(c)(3)charitable organization and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
